This multi-dimensional arts facility in Northampton, incorporates a restored Charles Rennie Mackintosh house, 78 Derngate, at its core. Devised for the toy maker and arts patron W J Bassett Lowke in 1919, Derngate was Mackintosh’s last completed commission. The existing properties were purchased by Northampton Borough Council and the 78 Derngate Trust, who jointly acted as Client. The scheme received listed building consent, a successful Heritage Lottery grant and was opened on schedule.

The final phase was the reinvention of 82 Derngate to incorporate an education and museum facility, which was completed in 2007. The project has been extensively published, and awarded a RIBA Award for Architecture 2005 and a Europa Nostra Award for Cultural Heritage in 2006.
