This in-depth analysis of the university's campuses at Hull and Scarborough involved drawing up masterplans that will guide the university's estate development strategy for the next 15 years.
In order to compete for students and staff, the university must provide an environment that meets operational needs while offering a sustainable and attractive place to live, study and work. Moreover, the development of the two campuses will provide a serious and much-needed regenerative effect on Hull and Scarborough.
A space management study identified organisational and efficiency priorities, while demographic and environmental issues further informed the development of the masterplans. The proposals are designed to progressively deliver a pair of effective and sustainable campuses; new buildings are proposed alongside the refurbishment and selective demolition of existing structures, framed within landscape and infrastructure works.
