The updated masterplan for the University of Manchester, formed from the merger of the Victoria University of Manchester, and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), addresses estate rationalisation and development for Britain's biggest single-site university.
This scheme, led by JMP's Urban Design Unit and the practice’s Manchester studio, dealt with a new campus for 36,000 students and 9,000 academic staff.
The three-phase masterplan outlines new academic facilities, and an integrated public realm development strategy to maximise links between the university campus and the city. JMP Landscape also completed the design of key open spaces within the new campus.
