Yapi Kredi Bank Operations Centre
The 65,000sqm environmentally sustainable corporate Operations Centre for Yapi Kredi Bank near Gebze in Turkey is on a steeply sloping site overlooking the Sea of Marmara. It houses 2,500 staff and comprises 10 linked courtyard buildings in a campus setting.

The Yapi Kredi Centre includes administrative, operational, training, conference and social amenities, arranged in a series of fabric-covered internal streets. John McAslan + Partners was responsible for the development of the entire scheme, including masterplanning, architecture, space-planning, interiors and its implementation, with Ove Arup and Partners as project manager and multi-disciplinary engineer.

The design approach was informed by both Yapi Kredi’s company culture and the courtyard forms and covered markets found in traditional Ottoman architecture, interpreted in a contemporary idiom.

Opened by the President of Turkey in 1998, and hailed as a unique multi-national collaborative project, the complex received international interest, and has been extensively published worldwide.
